March 6, 2020 Update
Former Band Director Ramirez was
taken into police custody today after an investigation by the Raymondville ISD
Police Department uncovered misconduct with a student at RISD. We suspended Mr.
Ramirez on February 17, 2020, when Police were notified of a recent report of
alleged wrongdoing that occurred before he was employed by the District. The
Raymondville ISD Police Department followed that report with a full
investigation. Mr. Ramirez ended his employment with the District on February
27, 2020.
All potential employees must pass
a national background check before being hired by Raymondville ISD. If
the District suspects or receives a report of employee misconduct, we will
continue to work with law enforcement to conduct a full investigation. We will
not hesitate to take action on any employee who has done wrong.

The Raymondville Independent School District, through its Superintendent of
Schools, Mr. Stetson Roane, would like to inform the community that Band
Director Ramirez is no longer employed by the District. Once RISD was aware of
possible issues with the band director, it immediately took action to remove
the employee from the District.
Teamwork between the
community and the District will be key to ensuring our students are safe. We
encourage everyone to say something if they see something or even suspect
something is not right. To help facilitate the partnership between the
community, Raymondville ISD offers several ways to make a report. You can
report concerns to the campus administration in person or by calling
