RISD SUSPENDS ALL SCHOOL OPERATIONS
Dear Raymondville ISD family
The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS)-Public
Health Region 11 notified Raymondville ISD officials of a confirmed case of
novel coronavirus-COVID-19. The
confirmed case is a student from Pittman Elementary.
DSHS advised that if you attended or visited Pittman Elementary
since March 5th and you have experienced COVID-19 symptoms, you
should notify your health care provider that you may have had contact with a
COVID-19 person. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath,
trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, change in smell or
absence of smell, new confusion or inability to arouse, bluish lips or face.
The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS)-Public
Health Region 11 recommends that all students, parents, and staff practice
social distancing and good hygiene. If you are experiencing mild flu-like
symptoms, please stay home and treat these symptoms as you would any other
flu/cold like illness in the past. Please stay at home for 24 hours after your
last recorded fever without any fever reducing medication (such as Tylenol,
Motrin, Ibuprofen). If symptoms become unmanageable, call your medical
provider, or if symptoms worsen and if it is an emergency, call 911. For any
questions, comments or concerns please contact The Texas Department of State
Health Services (DSHS)-Public Health Region 11 call center at 956-421-5505.
Based on the Department of State Health Services
confirmation of community spread in Raymondville and the recommendations of the
CDC and the White House, I have decided to suspend all school operations until after Easter, April 13, 2020.
We appreciate your cooperation during this time. We are a
strong community and we will continue to support and care for each other.
Respectfully,
Stetson Roane
