Dear Raymondville ISD Community,

I want to update you on an incident that occurred at our high school today. A student posted a note on Social Media claiming to have a gun in his bag. Within minutes, our students reported it to the principal, and RISD Police and High School Administration secured the students bag and took him into custody. The campus searched the student and his belongings and then conducted a thorough behavioral threat assessment. Campus Administration and RISD Police determined that the student did not have a gun at school.

We take all threats seriously, and we are pursuing charges to the fullest extent of the law. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority, and we want to assure you that our schools are safe and secure.

We want to thank the students who reported the threat, and we encourage all students to speak up if they see or hear anything that could potentially harm themselves or others. We also want to thank the school police for their quick response and support.

Please know that we will continue to work closely with law enforcement and our community partners to ensure that our schools remain safe and secure. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Quiero informarles sobre un incidente que ocurrió en nuestra escuela secundaria hoy. Un estudiante publicó una nota en las redes sociales afirmando tener un arma en su mochila. En cuestión de minutos, nuestros estudiantes lo informaron al director, y la policía y la administración de la escuela secundaria de Raymondville confiscaron la mochila del estudiante y fue detenido. El campus reviso al estudiante y sus pertenencias y luego realizó una evaluación exhaustiva de amenazas de comportamiento. La administración del campus y la policía de RISD determinaron que el estudiante no tenía un arma en la escuela.

Tomamos todas las amenazas con seriedad y estamos presentando cargos con todo el rigor de la ley. La seguridad y el bienestar de nuestros estudiantes y personal siguen siendo nuestra máxima prioridad, y queremos asegurarles que nuestras escuelas estan seguras y protegidas.

Queremos agradecer a los estudiantes que denunciaron la amenaza y alentamos a todos los estudiantes a hablar si ven o escuchan algo que podría dañarlos a ellos mismos o a otros. También queremos agradecer a la policía escolar por su rápida respuesta y apoyo.
