COVID-19 UPDATE JANUARY 11, 2021

 Dear Bearkat Nation,

Update: Covid-19 January 11, 2021

A student on the girls’ basketball team tested positive for COVID-19 this morning.  She was last on campus Friday. The student was exposed to Covid-19 off campus.

Raymondville ISD is working closely with the Department of State Health Services in response to this case. The basketball team is being directed to quarantine and monitor for symptoms while we conduct further contact tracing.  The District will administer COVID-19 tests on Thursday (Jan. 14) before resuming basketball activities on Friday(Jan. 15) for everyone who tests negative.  The January 12th basketball game vs. Hidalgo has been postponed. The basketball team wears masks during all practices and games.

Raymondville ISD is committed to being fully transparent with our community.  That is why I am informing you about cases of COVID-19 in our schools this week.  Two individuals from Raymondville Early College High School tested positive for COVID-19.  Contact tracing showed that each of the infected individuals contracted COVID-19 off-campus.  The two individuals were not in close contact with others on-campus.
The District is working with the Willacy County Emergency Management Coordinator, Frank Torres, and the Department of State Health Services to offer COVID-19 vaccines to the community.  The District has offered the use of its facilities.  We are all coordinating to distribute vaccines as soon as we receive them from the State.  I will notify you as soon as we have more information.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to Raymondville ISD.
Sincerely,
Stetson Roane, Superintendent of Schools
