Covid-19: THE BEST DEFENSE 11-6-20

With the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Willacy County, it’s more important than ever for all of us to continue practicing CDC recommended health protocols to stop the spread of infection. As a central part of the community, our District is impacted by this rise in cases, and we have reported multiple COVID-19 exposures on our campuses this school year.

In coordination with the Department of State Health Services, contact tracing found that individuals were infected through close contact outside of the school district. As a result of our ongoing focus on health and safety, Raymondville ISD continues to report zero confirmed cases of COVID-19 transfer in District facilities. Raymondville ISD installed Needlepoint Bipolar Ion Generators to eliminate viruses, bacteria, and mold in the air of all occupied spaces. The District exceeds the Texas Education Agency and CDC guidelines for Health and Safety.

For each COVID-19 case, the District responded promptly by

deep-cleaning and disinfecting areas the infected individual was present;

contacting anyone determined to be in close contact and requiring them to quarantine off-campus for          the 14-day incubation period;

informing all student families and staff members on the campus; and

reporting the case to the Department of State Health Services and the Texas Education agency

Raymondville ISD will continue to report COVID-19 cases and act quickly to stop the potential spread to students. However, the best way to protect students is to control the virus spread in the community, so it never reaches the campus.

With the holidays and cold weather approaching, it’s vital for all of us to continue practicing the same health and safety practices we follow at school. These practices include:

wearing a facemask over the mouth and nose around others;

keeping a safe distance around others (about the length of both arms);

avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth;

washing hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; and

staying home when you’re sick

The best defense is a good offense. Let us all continue to exercise caution and work together for the health and safety of children and families in our community.
